National History Day 2006

National History Day is a chance for middle and high school students to create a history related project (Exhibit & Papers,

Documentaries & Performances), present their findings to an audience (and the judges), and to compete against their peers.

All of the winners received a book about various history topics, and will have the chance to compete downstate in

the State and National finals.

Gerry, Amy, and Craig traveled to the Campus of Northern Michigan University to observe National History Day.

Next year, Dr. Howard L. Nicholson, the Director of National History Day will be retiring.  Jane Nordberg,

a writer for the Daily Mining Gazette, will be stepping in.  National History Day in 2007 will be held

on the campus of Michigan Tech.  The 4S was asked to help, and had the opportunity to observe the

inner-workings of National History Day.
