UN 1002B World Cultures

Brad Baltensperger is interested in the interaction of cultural and environmental systems. His research has focused primarily on human understanding of and adaptation to the North American Great Plains. He is author of "Nebraska: A Geography," published by Westview Press. He has also authored numerous articles related to the plains, including changing settlement patterns, the Great American Desert myth, farm consolidation, modifications to the cultural landscape, agriculture, and patterns of ethnicity.

Brad teaches the required course for first-year students, "World Cultures," as well as the graduate seminar on Global Environmental Systems for the Environmental Policy program. He also serves as chair of the Department of Cognitive and Learning Sciences, which includes the psychology program and teacher education programs at Michigan Tech.
